Map Pointz Archive
Guadalupe Rosales
Organized by LACA

The Map Pointz Project: Documents the 90s techno rave scene of Latinx and Chicano communities in Southern California. Artist and archivist Guadalupe Rosales uses archival documentation as raw material: compiling and disseminating the graphic ephemera of a specific, resonant cultural moment. Assembling and preserving photographs, flyers, posters, magazines, and other cultural signifiers, Rosales ever expanding archive encourages a reflection on issues of identity, place, and community and exposes the importance of giving communities the power to build their own memories.

"Q & A": A Performance by Gabrielle Civil & Discussion with Curator Andrew McNeely

In conjunction with the publication of Experiments in Joy (The Accomplices, 2019) and Experiments in Joy: A Workbook (Co-Conspirator Press, 2019), Gabrielle Civil will perform an excerpt from her performance work "Q & A."  In this interactive and improvisational performance, Civil subverts the routinized format of the question-and-answer period to activate and reflect on black feminist body politics in public space. "Q & A" will be followed by a conversation with curator, Andrew McNeely.

Hosted by Los Angeles Contemporary Archive (LACA) during Acid-Free 2019 at Blum and Poe.
