Description:

Cookie & Pandora (Diary Part 3) explores the work and archive of artist & musician Chloé Maratta.  This 'premature TELL-ALL' is composed of a collection of writings, lyrics, and diary entries seen for the first time. Ordered loosely chronologically, the collection is punctuated by customized diary cover assemblages which function as monoliths of self mythologization.

There is humor to Maratta’s diary entries as well as an insight into the ethos and influences of the artist. "LEARN SOMETHING O.K?" A diary entry from 2011 reveals an epiphany playfully: “I feel like I am beginning to understand my ebb + flow in the universe and myself myself myself myself more than before" which is later overturned with concerns for clothes: tie dye tees, letterman jackets, looking PUNK. This syntax /logic reveals the seeds for Maratta’s later noise project: Odwalla1221, (as well as its sister Slipper) which has been described as a project that “pushed the boundaries of music, art and fashion, with a punk simplicity at its core, a classically no wave formal logic of brut repetition, a 21st century sonic palette with a post-net art sensibility, all tied together with a distinctly feminine lyrical and aesthetic vision” (nina protocol).

Cookie is a continuation of multiple series, of 'Diary,' of 'Wasteland,' & an ode to friendship, an ode to aspirations, ROSES & IDK
