Description: I collaged a scrap paper, of my mother’s handwriting, practicing writing out my name for me in Japanese, a language I cannot write. I am interested in speaking to my Asian American audience and the diasporic other, to our shared experience of racial melancholia.
Letter side consists of text: WHAT WE THINK HEALING WILL LOOK LIKE//MEDITATING PEACEFULLY//WHAT HEALING ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE: UNPACKING TRAUMA, HAVING DIFFICULT CONVERSATIONS//TAKING RADICAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS, SETTING & ENFORCING BOUNDARIES, IMPLEMENTING HEALTHY ROUTINES"
