Sign Making Workshop: Taeyoon Choi

There’s something profoundly fulfilling about making your own signs and protesting in the streets. Handwritten signs are personal and compelling. Signs can become an interface between crowd and city, a device to intervene in the public space and a tool for counter-narrative to the mainstream media. Sign making is an artistic form of social engagement. Sign Making Workshop is a chance to think about your message, time to bring voice to your thoughts and give body to your message. It is also a chance to learn from people with different views and priorities.

Five readers present work that addresses emotional/physical pain and sickness, the ways in which the experience of that is documented, and the role of writing (loosely defined) in presenting/performing/interpreting trauma in both poetic and more casual forms. LACA will provide an archival space for their formally disparate texts and approaches.

Resident Letters: Kelman Duran and Peter Wilson

Los Angeles Contemporary Archive is pleased to present its final exhibition at 2245 East Washington Boulevard entitled Evacuated Landscapes, which features the work of Los Angeles artist Kelman Duran and New York artist Peter Wilson. Both artists seek to create narratives that explore themes of land privatization, displacement, and unfulfilled potential.
