Olga Koumoundouros, Gold House Gone, 2013 In her work, Olga Koumoundouros addresses a fundamental tenet of the American Dream: home ownership. She invites viewers to consider the emotional, financial, and psychological ties that bind people to the place they call home. “Gold House Gone” is based on a site-specific installation in which Koumoundouros treated an abandoned home as a monumental readymade. Covering it entirely in gold paint, the artist moved in and wove her personal narrative and desires into the real and imagined stories of the previous owners.
