KCHUNG at LACA: Behind the Stucco Facade of the Sickle Museum
Join us at LACA for a presentation of a new publication containing the radio drama written by KCHUNG members while in Public Engagement residency at the Hammer Museum. The original recording of Behind the Stucco Facade of the Sickle Museum, featuring KCHUNG DJ's and Hammer Museum staff, will be playing throughout the evening at the LACA projection chamber.
Behind the Stucco Facade of the Sickle Museum is a site-specific radio play broadcast through several transmitters placed throughout the Hammer Museum. The drama is composed of improvised, premeditated, and accidental writing by the members and friends of KCHUNG Radio. The writers were asked to embody the characters that populate the fictional Sickle Museum as they conducted dialogues via the online chat platform of their choice. Sometimes friends, sometimes strangers, and mostly artists, the writers came together in verbalizing imaginary institutional intrigues and potential conceptual compromises. The script was then collaboratively vocalized by Hammer Staff and KCHUNG DJs.
Behind the Stucco Façade of the Sickle Museum was created by KCHUNG Radio as part of its Public Engagement residency at the Hammer Museum. Public Engagement at the Hammer was initiated with funding from the James Irvine Foundation.
the publication was designed by Yogi Proctor.
